A great night's rest

image Your accommodation will be directly related to the standard or budget that you specify when submitting your itinerary to us. Generally we use hotels, B&Bís, guest houses or apartment Hotels but for schools groups or people who specify otherwise (self-catering for example) we use other accommodation providers such as hostels.

We offer 3 levels of accommodation as standard:

Comfort - Average 3*

Comfort level is our standard level of accommodation. It is suitable for families who wish to be comfortable without spending extravagant amounts of money on accommodation. Breakfast and Wi-fi is usually included and sports/health facilities are possible but not as standard.

Luxury - 4*

Our Luxury level is for those who wish to travel in style, but not quite bust the budget with an all-out no expense spared tour. Our Luxury Hotels normally include top restaurants, health and sports facilities and of course all the amenities you would expect from an English 4* Hotel.

Luxury Plus - 4-5*

This option is for those who wish to travel first class all the way including hotels and trains. We get some fantastic deals with 5* hotels so this option may not be quite as costly as you would expect! Where possible we will use 5* but not all towns and cities have this option available.

Group Tours

If you have booked your group in to tour with us we do offer a third budget level of accommodation. This is usually hostels or B&B's though it's worth remembering that we have such good deals with some 3 and 4* hotels that these can sometimes work out cheaper than a hostel!

Accommodation FAQ’s

Am I limited to the standard I choose?

No! The best thing about a Great British Trips package is that you're not limited to anything. You may be on a budget tour but that doesn't mean you might not want a single, special night in luxury accommodation. This can be included very easily, just let us know in the 'anything else' box on your itinerary page. Which hotel will I be staying at?

Do you always use particular chains?

In each area of the UK you may wish to visit, we have partnered with an accommodation provider for each budget level. The hotels we use have been carefully handpicked based on their standard of accommodation, their service level, customer reviews, their green policy, their location and their price.

What will it cost me?

After selecting the best possible hotel for our customers, we have negotiated the best available rates for you. As a Tour Operator we can usually access far better rates than you can access independently. Of course we add a little on for our commission but pass on the rest of the saving which means that you will rarely pay more booking through us than the best rate you can find yourself at the same hotel.

Will I know where I’m staying?

Yes. When we send through your itinerary we will always specify the hotel so that you have chance to check it out for yourself and decide whether you’re happy. We don’t reserve anything until we hear from you so occasionally a hotel we quoted on may be unavailable when we come to book. When this happens we always work hard to provide you with suitable options and alternatives for the same rate. Nothing will be booked in until you’re happy.

Does it have to be a hotel?

NO not at all!! Our customers can stay in whatever kind of accommodation they would like. In the past this has included hostels, B&Bs, Guest Houses, Inns, Castles, Boats, Medieval tents, Yurts, Manor Houses, chalet’s, lodges, apartments, caravans and holiday homes. If you would like to stay somewhere a little unusual for some or all of your holiday just let us know and we will work out some great options for you.

Will I have breakfast? En-Suite? Smoking?

Yes. We always include at least a continental breakfast as standard so unless otherwise stated breakfast will be included. We also always book en-suite rooms for our guests. Occasionally guest houses may have shared facilities but this will always be checked with you beforehand so there won’t be any surprises when you get there. All rooms are non-smoking as this is the law in the UK. Rooms will always come equipped with a bath or shower, or both. If you specifically require either one of these please ask.

What type of bed will I have?

When we book rooms we always specify the type of room, eg single, twin, double etc. Family rooms for 4 often have 2 double beds and a double will always have a shared bed. If you require separate beds please be sure to specify a twin early on. King Sized beds do not come as standard in most UK hotels and there is usually an additional charge for a room with a King bed. A double bed is relatively small so if you require something bigger please specify this as early as possible.
