The making of the Tower Poppies

The Tower of London Poppy Art installation has been more popular than anyone could imagine with hoards of visitors showing up each day to view the mammoth project and pay their respects to the fallen hero's of World War 1.

The installation has taken more than 13 weeks to complete with a unique ceramic poppy having been carefully hand crafted and planted in the poppy garden around the Tower. The final poppy has been placed in the last few hours and the incredible spectactle of 888,245 poppies is complete; with a single poppy representing every single British serviceman who died during the first world war.

The tower poppies has been extremely high profile and the nation has used it as a focal point to commemorate the 100 years since the start of World War 1. We've just discovered this great little video describing how the poppies have been made and providing some close up detail of the beautiful individual pieces of artwork themselves. Have a look at the video here.
