Bring your hiking boots and water bottles: the trail is unspoilt and there are no watering holes. Although all the paths are now signposted, take the time to watch where you step, as some passages can be quite narrow.
Headland after headland, the limestone and shale cliffs awaken to the rhythm of colour and light. Don’t forget your binoculars: there are dozens of species to spot. The Cliffs of Moher are home to a large number of seabirds, including cormorants, razorbills and puffins!
If the weather is clear, you may be able to make out the Aran Islands in the heart of Galway Bay. Once you’ve set off on the hiking trail, it won’t be long before you feel alone in the world, facing the restless ocean: a pleasure that everyone should experience during their stay in Ireland!

The Cliffs of Moher are dotted with magnificent viewpoints, opening out onto the Atlantic Ocean as far as the eye can see.
Note: Don’t get too close to the edge: some areas are not protected by barriers. At the O’Brien Tower viewpoint, access is protected. However, access is not protected at Moher Tower.
Take the time to climb to the top of the tower: a panorama worthy of the most beautiful postcards awaits you! Don’t forget to bring some cash, as you’ll be asked to pay a small entrance fee.

How long does it take to explore the Cliffs of Moher?
The Cliffs of Moher invite a long day’s walk, but if you want to spend a little less time, that’s also possible. To make the most of the site, allow at least an afternoon to follow the footpath. If you’re in a hurry, you can leave the car behind while you take in the beauty of the wilderness.
How do I get to the Cliffs of Moher?
The easiest way to get to the site is to hire a car, follow the ‘Cliffs of Moher’ signs and leave it in the site’s pay car park. If you choose this option, the ticket also entitles you to access to the Visitor Centre, an exhibition recounting the history of these famous cliffs…
If that’s not for you, there is public transport that will drop you off in front of the site. You’ll need to hop on line 350, which leaves from Ennis or Galway for a fee. A word of advice: the return fare is a real bargain.
