Our great British trips...

9:00 – A Gentle Start at the Roman Baths

A must-see attraction while you visit Bath, the Roman Baths are the perfect starting point for a day in this historic spa city. Located in the heart of Bath, this site preserves the remains of the thermal baths built by the Romans. During your visit, travel back over 3,000 years of history as you explore the various thermal springs. Don’t forget to stop by the Roman Baths Museum, which houses artifacts discovered during archaeological excavations—an ideal introduction to the city’s rich heritage in just one day!

Fun fact: Bath’s hot spring was famous even before the Romans arrived. It was considered the hottest natural spring in the UK. After its discovery in 836 BC, the Celts built a temple here in honor of the goddess Sulis. Contrary to popular belief, they were actually the first to construct a sanctuary on the site—not the Romans!

10:00 – A Quick Stop at Bath Abbey

After visiting the Roman Baths, take a moment to explore Bath Abbey, located just next door. This religious landmark was originally founded in 675 AD during the reign of King Osric. However, it has undergone several reconstructions over the centuries, resulting in the stunning blend of Romanesque and Gothic architecture seen today.

Entrance to the abbey is by voluntary donation, so there’s no need to purchase a ticket. After admiring the magnificent interior, don’t miss the chance to climb to the top of the abbey’s towers for breathtaking panoramic views over Bath—a perfect way to brighten your day!

11:00 – Off to the Royal Crescent

One last stop before lunch—and it’s a must-see! Just a 15-minute walk from the Roman Baths, the Royal Crescent is one of the finest examples of Georgian architecture in England. This grand residential complex consists of 30 terraced houses arranged in a sweeping crescent shape—hence its pastry-inspired name! The result is an impressive architectural masterpiece that’s definitely worth admiring. A must-visit if you’re spending a day in Bath!

Fun fact: The Royal Crescent has been a filming location for numerous iconic movies and TV shows. It has served as the backdrop for many Jane Austen adaptations, including The Duchess (2008) and Persuasion (2022). But that’s not all! Fans of Bridgerton (2020) might recognize its elegant facade as the home of the Featherington family. A visit to Bath in just one day can also feel like stepping into a period drama—this city is full of surprises!

12:00 – A Bucolic Picnic at Royal Victoria Park

After all these visits, it’s time for a lunch break! And what better way to enjoy it than with a countryside-style picnic in the park? Bath is full of green spaces! Located just a stone’s throw from the Royal Crescent, Royal Victoria Park is the perfect spot for a relaxing English-style lunch in the shade of a tree. Fun fact: the park was named in honor of Queen Victoria, who personally inaugurated it in 1830.

Once you’ve savored your fish & chips, take some time to explore Royal Victoria Park. If you’re in the mood for a more active break, enjoy a game of tennis solo or with a group. Otherwise, a leisurely stroll through the botanical garden is the perfect way to recharge before continuing your day in the beautiful city of Bath!

14:00 – Visit to the Jane Austen Centre

Did you know? Bath was both the home and a source of inspiration for Jane Austen, the famous English novelist. Best known for her masterpiece Pride and Prejudice, a pinnacle of English literature, Jane Austen is honored in Bath with a dedicated museum. Just a 5-minute walk from Royal Victoria Park, the Jane Austen Centre is a recreation of the author’s home. During your visit, immerse yourself in Austen’s world through historical texts, period costumes, and displays of her most iconic works. A timeless experience to visit Bath!

Calling all Pride and Prejudice fans! Don’t miss the Regency Tea Room, a charming tea salon inspired by Jane Austen and her heroines. Be sure to order “Mr. Darcy’s Tea”, served with delicate sandwiches and a delicious scone. Who knows? You might even catch a glimpse of the mysterious gentleman himself!

16:00 – Slippers and Robe at the Bath Spa

After a day full of sightseeing, it’s time for a well-deserved relaxation break. And what better place for it than Bath, the ultimate spa town? Located right in the heart of the city, just across from the Roman Baths, the Thermae Bath Spa is the largest in England. Inside, you’ll even find the Cross Bath, an ancient sacred site dedicated to the goddess Sulis Minerva!

For an extra £16, you can take a dip in this exclusive and historic space. Otherwise, indulge in whirlpools, steam rooms, tropical showers, and—best of all—the heated rooftop pool with stunning city views! If you’re feeling peckish after your spa session, head to the spa restaurant for a light and delicious treat. We highly recommend the jasmine tea and the strawberry & pepper tart—a surprising but delightful combo!

Our verdict? Exploring a city while unwinding? Yes, please!
